Websites. Yeah. Not my thing. I am sure that some would say that this is even slightly unprofessional; too casual; feel free to make fun of me as much as you want.  I put this website together in an afternoon while on a trip back to the East Coast. I have been contemplating a website like this for a while, but I just haven't had time.  

WHY:

I wanted a U47. I am an amateur singer/musician and I wanted a nice microphone.  I was tired of working with the same Shure SM-58 that I had been working with for the last 30 years. Looking around to see what was out there for a recording mic, I found lots of interesting mics. It used to be that you could go to GC and get a demo on a mic. Well, that just isn't  case any more. I bought a few large diaphragm condensers, some of which, I still have and are wonderful microphones. But I kept looking. At some point, I remembered that Frank Zappa made some reference to a U47 on Joe's Garage. I won't get in to that reference here, but I remember getting a chuckle out of it when I was a kid listening to Zappa and asking a mentor of mine just what the hell a "Telfunken U47," was. 

I listened to probably 20 microphones. They were all over the map for me. Some sounded good, some sounded ok. But when I asked those in the know, the U47 came up. Then I got curious about why.
